Once upon a time…

Once upon a time, there was a moghol emperor named Shah Jahan who was madly in love with one of his wives. He was kind and bright even though he did not know how to read and write. He decided to bury his favorite wife, nicknamed Mumtaz Mahal, the Chosen, or Pearl of the Harem, although her real name was Arjumand Banu Begam. She was from Persia.

She died in 1631 while giving birth to her 14th child. All her life, in hard times and in good times, she had been good and faithful to her husband. When she died, Shah Jahan who was only 39 years old decided to immortalize Mumtaz Mahal. He built for her the Taj Mahal. One of the 7 wonders of the world.
