I long for some Indian Summer Upstate New York.
If only I could go back in time and spend a week end at the Old Rhinebeck Inn again. Or this time I would rent their Apple Blossom Cottage to be more comfortable with Marcelo and Amalya. We would go apple picking at one of the many farms in the afternoon. Or we would spend the day at my favorite sculpture park Storm King . Or we would drive around in Dutchess County and look at the many horses and beautiful mansions.
We’d stop for lunch in Bedford, Red Hook or Tivoli or even Woodstock, on the other side of the river. And maybe we’d check out Richard Gere’s chic new b&b, The Bedford Post Inn. And we would catch a movie at the very atmospheric little cinema in the center of Rhinebeck. Or we would simply take a stroll along the Hudson river. And we’d bring home a big pumpkin from one of the many farmer’s markets.
Those are the things we used to do when we lived in New York City and Marcelo was not even one year old. Looking back now, it seems like a perfect family week end getaway just 1h30 north from NY City.
