Star light, star bright, first star I see at night.
Wish I may, wish I might, have the wish I wish tonight.

Maybe this is a famous English poem for children, but I discovered it tonight in Marcelo’s book Every Planet has a Place, published by National Geographic Kids. He told me his wish is to spend the night on Saturn. Mine is to spend it in a desert. The Sahara, the Kalahari, the Atacama..!

These photos were taken from the website of Alto Atacama, one of the few wonderful places in Chile from which you can observe the milky way. We’re thinking of visiting the Atacama desert next year, as part of the South America leg of our Round the world. Please tell me if you’ve ever been there. Would love to get some advice.
