A big reason behind going around the world this year is that Marcelo is turning 5 years old, and he can still afford to miss a term or two of (pre-)school. Waiting longer would have meant schooling him ourselves, and we did not feel capable of that responsibility. So we sat with his teacher before we left, and the message was comforting and easy to follow: just make sure he learns how to hold a pencil properly. So that’s what we’ll do: find fun in writing letters and numbers.
