Because we’re all a bit disoriented

“There’s been an exponential increase in map-related art in gallery and museum shows. The reason is that this is a time when we’re all disoriented” dixit Katharine Harmon, author of the book The Map as Art.

Katharine Harmon compiled 360 works from artists exploring the theme of carthography. From Ed Ruscha to Julian Schnabel, Olafur Eliasson, and Vik Muniz. This book is not so new (from 2009) but I only stumbled upon it recently, and thought out loud that I’d really really like to get my own copy…
