Deep inside me (a bit deep right now, since i still have my Lior kilos to loose..soooo hard the 3rd time around..grrr)..Well deep inside, I have the heart of a true fashionista. And I will say something that will outrage some of you, but I’ll still say it. Sometimes, you’ll stumble upon an amazing dress, a beautiful pair of sandals, and immediately you’ll know how to match it with a holiday destination. I felt like this last year when I bought my Ancient Greek Sandals, and dreamt of a summer in Capri (dreams sometimes become reality…hihi..and we went for 4 days you-and-me-and-my-round-belly before the no-fly rule. Read here for the post on Capri)
Well. That’s how I felt again when I discovered Monica Patel-Cohn’s beautiful line called Two New York.
I first thought it was a word play for maternity dresses. Because the flowy pieces could easily be used to hide a growing belly. But it’s much more than that. It’s for all of us mothers and not, pregnant and not, with the common wish to escape to warm territories with our tribe. Monica has drawn inspiration from her Indian and Italian backgrounds and designed a collection that is a modern and stylish take on the traditional sari. Based in Brooklyn, everything is produced locally with one-of-a-kind textiles.
Here are some destinations that come to my mind and that I’ve written about before: the beaches in Uruguay, around Jose Ignacio. Goa, seen by the designer Nana Ki. Patmos, a far far away Greek island. The Hamptons, up by the dunes. Cap Ferret, eating oysters and sipping a chilled white wine. Or l’Ile de Re, riding a bicycle with Famille Summerbelle. Or Fiji, after a yoga class on the beach.
Now..imagine for a second that the man of your life would give you a caftan from Two New York, and asked you ‘My Love, where would you like me to take you on vacation with this beautiful caftan?’. It’s Mother’s day soon. We can all dream, can’t we??!!
(Ps Ceki: I’d say Formentera, so you can get the plane tickets too. hiihihihi. Oh how naughty!)
Let’s see where everyone would dream to wear one of Two New York beautiful pieces. Will you tell me?
